Fantastic write up. Worth the $20 I spent today. My first read of the substack content and I just want to stop reading and go to work! As a small startup with a co-founding team only at present, a slight move to momentum, and little cash, this one was not only tactical but inspirational.

Legendary article. As a small "e" entrepreneur, who bootstrapped their podcast agency with a laptop and microphone, I really appreciate this piece. Thank you!!!

I am very curious currently of multiple ways to name and claim solopreneurs, small businesses owners, consultants, freelancers, one-person businesses.

Do you think this might be a category, which lacks better languaging going forward?

Iā€™ve got a good example of this. Youā€™re all familiar with mindfulness (I imagine). Well the TL;DR of whatā€™s now a culturally ubiquitous movement is this: while studying to be a biology researcher at MIT Jon Kabat Zinn went to a lecture on Zen Buddhism. He realized this was his life mission - BUT you canā€™t take some religious tradition and pull it into the realm of science and clinical applications in medicine can you? So he took the teachings and stripped them of their religious languaging - he coined the turn Mindfulness. Then designed a mindfulness-based stress reduction program which basically teaches the practices of Zen Buddhism and hatha yoga but without the spiritual language. The result is that 20 years later mindfulness is now a global movement and present in every major medical and scientific institution. He took the dharma (Buddhaā€™s teaching) which have been around for like 4000 years. Reframed it and claimed the category of mindfulness. Wow šŸ’”

Arrr!! Awesome insight that found me just at the right time as I just pitched a new customer with the usual bouts of doubt and fomo... Your article reaffirms that I'm 100% on the right track.

FYI - I presented an insane product with insane value and this whole thing might just lead to be the holy grail for my micro business in a commodity industry. I have been trying to wrangle myself out of this box for years, and you guys popped up on Amazon.

BRAVO & THANK YOU.
